Color Mixing

Confuse in what color fit what color? I used to be like that. It’s not the perfect rule to mix-matching colors, but at least you know in what mode it is.

1. Neutrals

Soft colors, like black, white, grey, tan, gold, silver, beige is considered as neutrals. Those colors can be mixed with any of the color wheel.

2. Monochromatic

This is all about the same shades on one hue. Ex: black-grey (Hue: black), light green-dark green (hue: green), pink-red (hue: red)

3. Opposite

Look at the color wheel. In opposite mode, we choose the color across the wheel. In my opinion, it’s good if the colors are bold. The colors are: red vs green, orange vs blue, yellow vs purple.

4. Prime Colors

It’s the battle of the primary colors: red, yellow, blue.

5. Analogues

Just remember the colors of the rainbow. In this mode, we choose the color next to it. Ex: Red-orange, orange-yellow, yellow-green, etc

So, you can still wearing mint (considered as “green”) with purple, and brown with yellow. It’s just a guide in case we are not in a mood of too much dressed. Creativity is bigger than the range of colors.

I love mix matching colors of what I wear with Neutrals, monochromatic, and analogues, in pastels way, like pastel green with pastel blue. What’s yours? Do you have any idea of color-matching?

Style and Beauty Section in Yahoo Answers

Do you love styling? I do. It's my dream to be a fashion stylist. So I do blogging, I went from events to events of fashion, I sell clothes, I read my follower's and my fashion roles' blogs, and I think you do this too if you love fashion. But how to improve your skill in fashion styling? Go to forums about fashion either it from Lookbook.nu or Chictpia.com. You can give advices for fashionistas about their fashion problems. But I once felt intimidated by them and don't want to answer their questions because I thought they should be more expert than me. Then I tried Yahoo Answer (answer.yahoo.com) and went to Beauty and Style section. It boots my confident in answering the users' question bacause I know that at least I am a fashion blogger and they are not. I think it's a good start for a beginner! So, here's are several of my answers.

Q: How do I know fashion designing is right for me?
I do like fashion, and dressing in different styles. I love music, I can play the guitar and piano. I also like Graphic Designing. I love art and designing. How do I know fashion designing is right me? I love dressing in different clothes like puck, rock, country style, emo style, hippy style and classic fashion. I don't like drawing fashion clothes, but I love creating fashion in styles in my mind.

A: You love styling yourself doesn't mean you are good in designing. Seriously! I know a friend of mine that good in designing clothes but she has 5/10 levels in mix matching styles. Second, in fashion design (FD), you need those accurate measurements, or have a lot of material preferences. If you think you are good in them, do it.
If you love fashion world, maybe you have to do this:
1. Find out what careers on fashion world, from FD to model, from blogging to buyer, from displayer to model booker, from fashion editor to fashion illustrator. You have to know what they are doing.
2. Do the internship in fashion area based on the information you get from no.1
3. Do blogging. If you think it is that easy, do it in 3 months, professionally. Why? Because blogging can make friend that have the same interest, and if you see professional bloggers like kisforkani.com, iamgalla.com, brownplatform.com (my favorites), they are popular, a lot of fashion matter to do, have a lot of connection, world knows them, their style is rightly judged by society, they are self employee, and they do almost job in fashion area. Then you will know which your best part is. Because even a blogger has only 1 strengthens, either it is their writing skill, photograph, or their styling idea.
4. If you love FD, please to exercise it by drawing wherever you go, then if you think about it every second s of your life, you know this is your passion
Q: How to solve this problem ?
in my school, many people wear a tight long pants but i'm not, i have a wide long pants and a few people laugh at me for sometime......i got a friend is also same with me, he got a wide long pants...firstly , i decided to change the sizes of the long pants to make it more tight a bit with my friend....but until now we haven't do it...and i don't think about it anymore...i just take it easy i just wear it...but my friend still want to change it sizes..and he always ask me and this make me very confuse do it need to change it sizes ?
A: If you love the tight, why not? people in my country do that, and I think it's cut in nowadays. If you don't disturbed with this, so why u should change what you think is confortable for you. If you go to chictopia.com and find people wearing wide long pants (there is a directory to find it), why don't you imitate them.
remember, a good style does not go out of fashion trend. Be your self, make your statement. But, be sure that you are confortable and chic.
Q: My wardrobe is too full, how do I sort out my clothes?
I hang a lot of stuff and it's full, and I folded many things and keep it down. The folded part is hard causw when I need to grab something the whole pile falls. I also keep my additional bedsheets and blankets there.
A: Don't go until you have found what to wear for the top, or which shoes to wear, or any other specifications.

Usually, I answer the question from Indonesia, and a lot of times of being the best answer. It's fun! You should try it! Go to Yahoo Answer then in Categories, choose Beauty and Style section! See you there! <3

Inspired by my Hello Kitty Bag

My HelloKitty Bag

Who doesn’t know Hello Kitty? A lot of girls love it. A lot of things are inspired by Hello Kitty, included me. See the bag I wear? That’s inspired me. The bag is basically broken white, glittery golden border, and pink garment inside. How feminine is that! So I grab something white, pink, and glittery gold from my wardrobe.

Why I dress in feminine ways? Because on the day when I wore the outfit, I just want to feel more calm and sweet. I was sick on the day I’m wearing the outfit (Friday, 4) so I don’t want to be so stunning. Just want to be calm. Then since I have a pillow shaped hello kitty, which is my friend along my illness, I imagine how Kitty can look so cute and how to dress like her.
How about you? If you are in an illness, what do you wear? Or do you have an idea about what to wear based on Hello Kitty theme?

Evolusia Fashion Show 2012

Maranatha Christian University proudly present Evolusia, a fashion show that was held on Friday, 27 April 2012. The dresses were designed by seniors in Diploma of Fashion Design. They make me envy by their creativity in fashion design. Yes I am a student of MCU, but it is a pitty that I'm not a part of fashion design, where my passion is. But it's okkay! At least I watched the fashion show. Here's the photos.

Bat collection by Sherly D. This is one of my favorite collection.

Bat wing-ed dress in Cirebon's Batik? How nice!

So classy and wearable. I like Sherly's collection!

It's Sara Olivia's great colour-mixing! I love fourth the most.

There were color blocking designs that I love the most. So colorful! Look at the shoes!
Yulia Fransisca's

Yessi F's. Love the skirt!

Yes, I'm Indonesian and I love Indonesia's culture. Here are their works, dedicated to Indonesia.

Claasy Kebaya, for wedding. By Cindy T.

Ah! I wish I had one! Please, Maria K., send me one!!

Not only inspired by Indonesia's culture, another designer, Jeanne F, was inspired by Sakura, as we know that it is from Japan. Since I am a fans of pink and soft colour, so I coose this as one of my favorite.
Jeanne F.'s

Then my camera was out of battery. How pitty! Fortunatelly, my friends shoots several more photos.  I choose my favorites here. Sorry if I don't know the designer of the clothes. If you know them, feel free to tell me!

There were a lot of fashionistas there. I saw 2-3 known people. I know the face but I forget who they are! Then, about my outfit, to spread my love to Bali culture, I wear the most recognizeable Bali pattern, black to white squares! Balinesse believe that by wearing that kind of pattern, can protect them from evil or bad hollow. Then I added "Kipas" on my hand. I bought it in Bali too. Then, because I am a member of two chorals that have a great love of folkore, I grab their head-accessories, that represent Bali's culture.

Half traditional, half modern.

Since a friend of mine was the make up stylist and stay at the backstage along the show, it's surprising me when she told that the models change their clothes right at the backstage, for about 20 seconds, and it's common to get naked in front of a lot of people at the backstage in order to save the time not going to changing room. Yes I'm new in fashion, so everything amazed me, I will tell you. Then, here's my tips if you would attending a fashion show:
  1. Make sure that your battery is full. Bring more the 2 batteries.
  2. It's okay to bring a pocket camera if you don't have DSLR. The lightning there will be so good.
  3. Write the designer name, include 1-2 words about the dress, because  I have the difficulty in selecting which photos belongs to which designers.
  4. Keep your camera at a part of stage, especially on the part when the models stop for a while, so the quality of your photos will be better.
  5. Be as fashionable as you can. When or where will you wear that 20cm heels plus that big big big hair band? Or maybe colorful neon make up? I saw a man with a patching batik blazer. Seems weird to be found in mall or even on a sweet sixteenth birthday party, but you know, on fashion show, be as unusually-fashionable as you can. Be as stunning as you can. A friend of mine were a cameraman there, and he told me that he was going to interview the most fashionable person there.
  6. Bring at least one friend to assist you to take some shoots of yours, or to note the designer names, etc.
  7. Be on time! They may delay the show, but the closer you from the door, the more chance to sit on the front.
  8. Bring a light bag. Don't put anything into your bag.
  9. Do not bring foods, otherwise, it will be taken by the guards. So, eat before attending the fashion show.
  10. Bring name cards! You won't know whom will you meet!
  11. If you have blog, website, a company, etc, feel free to comment anything to put on the sticking board, then don't forget to put your blog or website, or whatever you want.
Are there any more tips? I will learn from your comments.
